PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A cool upper trough perched over the Pacific Northwest will help support instability with Monday’s weather, allowing for showers and isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.
This will include bursts of intense rain, lightning, wind, and the possibility for some hail.
A large section of Oregon and southwest Washington are set up for the development of thunderstorms, and includes many neighborhoods around the Portland metro area and Vancouver. Forecast models are depicting the necessary convection to help trigger these t-storms come Monday evening. With the ground heating up from sun breaks, this will allow for the warm air to rise and clash with the cooler air aloft.
