PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Pack the rain gear with you all weekend. We’ll see soggy and breezy conditions with thunderstorms in the mix.
Expect rain showers around the coast and valley starting Saturday. With the passing of a surface disturbance, colder air will flush in and drive the chance for pop up thunderstorms along the coast. The Willamette Valley could also see isolated storms. Rain may be heavy within those thunderstorms. Winds will gust up to 30 mph throughout the afternoon as well.
In general, this may be a good weekend to stay indoors, as rainy conditions continue into Sunday.
For folks heading out and over the mountain passes, keep your eyes on the forecast. Snow levels will near pass levels, however much of the heavy snow should stay above 5,000′.
Government Camp will likely keep bare and wet roadways going into the weekend. Forest roads slightly higher in elevation could receive some light accumulations. It is encouraged to prep for winter driving conditions as listed in the video above.
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Oregon and Washington Cascades this weekend. Heavy snow totals of 1 to 2 feet possible by Sunday.
