PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – We’re in luck! The weekend will bring ideal conditions for outdoor activities around the state.
If you’re staying in Portland or around the valley this weekend, leave the rain jacket at home. Expect some morning fog come Saturday with a quick drizzle possible. The valley will dry out by late morning with a partly to mostly sunny afternoon.
Sunday brings mostly sunny skies with highs near 70°.
Some ideas for things to do near Portland this weekend:
Heading to the coast? A fun event to head to will be in Lincoln City for their Fall Kite Festival. Starting on Friday, the city will offer a kite-making workshop for kids. Fly your newly made kites on Saturday and Sunday alongside others and experts donning colorful (and giant) kites.

If you’re more into strolling on the beach or up on the dunes, dress in layers. Saturday morning will start out cloudy with a slight chance for light passing showers. Drier conditions set up through the afternoon with plenty of sunshine by Sunday. Highs will stay in the 60s with a light ocean breeze.
Great weather is expected in the gorge for those who want to hit the trails.
We’ll see mostly sunny skies, light winds, and highs in the upper 60s. Don’t forget the sunglasses and even though it’s October, wearing a bit of sunscreen still won’t hurt.
Much of the fall season can still provide great weather for hiking and backpacking trips into the Cascade mountains.
If you’re planning a trip near Mt. Hood, prepare for chilly overnight temperatures. Recent snowfall has dusted elevations above 6,000 feet, so if you’re going up that high, you’ll want to bring good hiking or snow boots for optimal traction.
Dry conditions and mostly sunny skies will make for excellent photos during the day. As always, bringing extra food, water, and cold layers. Those items could save you in an emergency.
Folks out in central and eastern Oregon should expect lovely outdoor conditions for hunting, fishing, or rock climbing. Expect mostly sunny skies during the day and chilly temperatures during the night. Bundle up!
